Published on March 26, 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC) made significant strides toward its electoral goal for the 2027 elections, as all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria demonstrated overwhelming support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during recent congresses. This unified front comes at a critical time as the party seeks to solidify its base and enhance its electoral strategies.

In a show of endorsement, prominent party figures, including Senator George Akume and several state governors, voiced their commitment to Tinubu as the sole candidate for the upcoming elections. The alignment among the various factions within the party underscores a collective determination to maintain the momentum generated during the 2023 electoral cycle.

In the South-West, party delegates re-elected Bisi Kekemeke as the zonal leader, setting clear expectations that the region will contribute significantly through bloc voting in favor of Tinubu. This decision reflects the party’s focus on maximizing electoral strength in a region that has historically been a stronghold for the APC.

Similarly, in the South-East, the congress saw the return of Chief Arodiogbu as the zonal chairman, marking a critical leadership shift intended to foster unity among party members. Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State praised the congress as a pivotal moment for strengthening collaboration and advancing the party’s interests in the region.

The South-South geopolitical zone also rallied behind the party’s efforts, with Victor Giadom at the helm leading the congress. Notably, former Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio, alongside other governors, expressed their support for the ongoing party activities, emphasizing the importance of unity and a coordinated strategy as the APC prepares for future electoral challenges.

The consolidation observed across the various zones signals the APC’s strategy to leverage regional strengths and unity to advance its agenda ahead of the 2027 elections. With increased cooperation and a shared vision, party leaders are optimistic about securing a favorable outcome in the forthcoming political contests.
