The probe revealed that the works, which included infrastructure projects aimed at improving public amenities, were approved in violation of established governmental procedures.
Authorities have expressed their astonishment at the scale of the oversight. “It is baffling how such a large number of projects could be authorized without going through the proper channels. This not only undermines governance but also poses risks of misallocation of public funds,” an official statement from GHMC outlined.
The detected irregularities have prompted GHMC to suspend several officials involved in the Braiding the project approval process. Moreover, additional investigations are expected to determine the extent of accountability and potential corruption associated with these unauthorized approvals.

Many have called for increased transparency and stricter oversight to prevent similar occurrences in the future. “We need to ensure that the funds meant for our community are used appropriately and with proper oversight,” said a local resident.
As authorities move forward with their investigation, the incident has underscored the need for stringent compliance with government guidelines in project approvals to restore public trust in the municipal governance framework. The GHMC’s commitment to holding accountable those in positions of authority will be crucial in addressing the fallout from this significant lapse in judgment.
