In a bid to maintain cleanliness and protect the environment, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced strict measures to combat littering at Dumas Sea Face. Starting immediately, anyone caught littering in this scenic area will face fines of up to ₹1,500, aiming to discourage irresponsible waste disposal among visitors.

The Dumas Sea Face, popular for its picturesque sunset views and bustling atmosphere, has often been marred locals alike. In an effort to restore the site’s natural beauty and promote responsible behavior, the SMC deployed additional staff members to monitor the area closely. These personnel are tasked with ensuring compliance with cleanliness regulations and deterrents against littering.

In addition to the immediate fines, SMC plans to enhance public awareness campaigns to educate residents and visitors about the importance of keeping public spaces litter-free. Information boards and signage will be installed along the promenade, reminding individuals of the potential penalties for littering, as well as encouraging them to dispose of their waste responsibly.

Local authorities reiterated their commitment to preserving the environment and emphasized that maintaining the cleanliness of popular spots like Dumas Sea Face is crucial for the health of the community and the ecosystem. Residents and visitors are encouraged to take part in keeping the area clean trash bins available throughout the beach.

The SMC’s initiative reflects a growing trend among urban municipalities in India, striving to enhance environmental sustainability and promote civic responsibility. As these measures take effect, officials hope to see a notable decrease in litter and an increase in community pride regarding clean public spaces.
