BUSAN — Boy band BTS looks set to perform at Busan Asiad Main Stadium in Busan on June 12 and 13 as part of its “Arirang” world tour.
“We have reviewed whether to grant permission to use Busan Asiad Main Stadium at BTS’s request,” a Busan Metropolitan City official said on Sunday. “We recently approved the request after BTS met all the conditions.”
BTS’s representatives have also signed a rental agreement for the stadium. City officials considered other potential locations, including the North Port area, but determined that Busan Asiad Main Stadium is better suited to meet security needs and can accommodate 40,000 to 50,000 spectators.
The Busan concert follows BTS’s comeback show, “BTS The Comeback Live: Arirang,” which took place in central Seoul on March 21. This performance marked the band’s first show in four years after its members completed their mandatory military service. The band is also set to kick off the “Arirang” world tour on April 9 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, which will include 82 shows across 34 cities.
The June dates coincide with the band’s debut anniversary on June 13, 2013, and BTS is planning additional events, such as fan meet and greets, for the fans known as ARMY. These events may occur at separate venues like Sajik Gymnasium or Bexco.
Currently, BTS’s representatives have announced only the concert dates; details regarding the venue, additional events, or ticket sales have yet to be confirmed.
In anticipation of the concert, Busan Metropolitan City has initiated special inspections as accommodation prices are showing signs of rising. The city expects a surge of visitors, including ARMY, and is planning a series of events related to the concert.
However, city officials face limitations, as they cannot utilize BTS or ARMY-related intellectual property in promotional campaigns.
“We will cooperate with the band’s agency to promote Busan to a global audience,” a Busan Metropolitan City official stated.
