Published on March 29, 2026

The Ministry of Science and ICT has approved a comprehensive three-year national road map aimed at transforming the country from an ICT powerhouse into one of the world’s leading artificial intelligence (AI) leaders by 2028. This ambitious plan, which was announced on Sunday, focuses heavily on the commercialization of 6G technology, enhancement of AI capabilities, and the integration of AI across various sectors.

During an Information Communications Strategy Committee meeting held on Friday, the ministry presented the basic plan designed to advance ICT and convergence, along with a broader vision for creating an intelligent information society by 2026. The strategy has been developed in collaboration with relevant ministries and is anchored around four critical pillars: expanding the national digital infrastructure, strengthening digital capabilities, promoting national intelligent informatization, and fostering an inclusive digital environment.

One of the cornerstone objectives of this initiative is the enhancement of the national digital infrastructure. The government plans to upgrade existing 5G networks to standalone mode, there and reliability. Furthermore, there is an ambitious timeline for the research and development of next-generation 6G technologies, with a target for commercial rollout set for 2030.

To complement these advancements, the road map includes measures to tighten information security management protocols and bolster cyber defense mechanisms in both public and private sectors. This focus on security highlights the government’s recognition of the growing importance of safeguarding digital information in an increasingly interconnected world.

As part of this strategic vision, the Ministry of Science and ICT is committed to ensuring that the country is not only a leader in technological advancement but also that all citizens can benefit from these innovations in a safe and equitable manner. The outlined plans reflect a forward-thinking approach that aims to position the nation at the forefront of the AI revolution and set the stage for a robust digital economy.
