SEOUL, March 28 (Yonhap) — It wasn’t the kind of South Korean debut he had hoped for, but Wiz starter Kim Jae-hun expressed satisfaction with his team’s overall performance despite a tumultuous outing on the mound.
In a tightly contested game against the DB Lions, Kim struggled with his command early on, giving up three runs in the first two innings. However, he managed to settle down, showcasing flashes of brilliance that hinted at his potential. The right-hander finished his outing with six strikeouts, helping the Wiz secure a 7-4 victory.
After the game, Kim acknowledged his inconsistent performance but emphasized the importance of the team’s win. “I’m not entirely happy with how I pitched, but we got the win, and that’s what matters most,” he said. “I need to work on being more consistent, but I felt good that my teammates rallied behind me.”
The Wiz’s offensive lineup provided ample support, with several players contributing key hits that propelled them to victory. Import star Mike Tauchman led the charge with a home run and three RBIs, showcasing the firepower that the team hopes will carry them through the season.
Manager Lee Sook-joon praised Kim’s resilience, noting that it’s not uncommon for pitchers to have shaky starts, especially in their debut. “I believe this experience will help him grow. He has the talent, and I am confident he will figure things out,” Lee said.
As the season progresses, the Wiz will look to build on this win and improve their collective performance as they aim for a strong run in the league. Kim, eager to learn from his mistakes, is determined to refine his skills and contribute to his team’s success.
“The support from my teammates and the fans was incredible,” Kim added. “I can’t wait to get back on the mound and show everyone my best.”
