P. Shanmugam, the State Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), emphasized the party’s unwavering commitment to workers’ rights and the shared values of the Secular Progressive Alliance during a recent address. As the political landscape shifts with each election, Shanmugam reiterated that the foundational principles of their ideology remain steadfast.
While the electoral battle against the BJP-AIADMK alliance intensifies, Shanmugam underscored the importance of unity among like-minded parties and groups. He pointed out that the Secular Progressive Alliance is not merely a coalition but a collective force aiming at safeguarding the rights of marginalized communities and upholding secular values in the face of rising authoritarianism.
Highlighting the historical struggles endured , Shanmugam stated, “Elections come and go, but our dedication to advancing the rights of laborers and ensuring their welfare will never change.” He called upon party workers and supporters to stay vigilant and energized, assuring them that their collective fight for justice and equality is more vital than ever.
The CPI(M) leader further articulated the need for a broad-based mobilization of all secular and progressive forces. “We are committed to building a stronger front against divisive politics. Our goal is to foster an inclusive society where every individual is respected and has access to their rights,” he noted.
With upcoming electoral contests on the horizon, Shanmugam urged voters to critically assess the platforms and track records of candidates. He encouraged them to prioritize social justice, labor rights, and secularism when making their decisions, asserting that true progress can only be achieved through honest and principled leadership.
