Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan on Monday called for enhanced cooperation between labor and management in light of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. Speaking during a forum focused on the industrial sector in Sejong, he emphasized that unity and collaboration are crucial to navigating the challenges posed situation.
The minister highlighted that the crisis, which has led to disruptions in supply chains and increased costs for raw materials, poses significant risks to domestic industries. He urged businesses to work closely with their employees to develop strategies that can mitigate these challenges, ensuring both economic stability and job security.
Kim also pointed out that labor-management dialogue is essential for fostering a resilient industrial environment. He encouraged companies to engage in transparent communication with their workforce, aiming to build trust and collaboratively address any arising issues. This, he noted, would enhance productivity and safeguard the interests of both parties involved.
In response to rising energy prices and inflationary pressures resulting from the crisis, the minister proposed various measures aimed at bolstering competitiveness in the sector. These include investments in technology and innovation, as well as exploring new markets to diversify supply sources.
The call for collaboration comes as various sectors continue to feel the impact of the geopolitical tensions, with producers facing uncertainty in access to materials and fluctuating demands. Kim’s comments underscored the importance of adaptability in tough economic times, reinforcing the belief that a joint effort from labor and management can lead to more sustainable solutions.
