Delhi Public School (DPS) in Dwarka has announced plans to expel 25 students due to unpaid tuition fees, sparking outrage among parents who claim the school is acting unfairly. The institution has instructed parents to clear any outstanding fees 7 to avoid their children’s removal from classes.
In response to the school’s decision, a group of parents held a meeting to discuss their next steps. Many expressed their discontent, demanding the immediate withdrawal of all eviction notices. They have threatened to stage a protest today, seeking to draw attention to what they describe as unjust and excessive measures taken .
Adding to the tensions, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader accused the Delhi government of “shielding” private schools in this matter. The politician’s comments highlight a growing concern among parents that the government is not adequately regulating private education institutions, allowing them to impose punitive actions without recourse for families facing financial difficulties.
Parents emphasized that many families are struggling to meet the financial demands imposed , especially in light of the economic challenges that have arisen in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. They argue that education should be accessible to all children, regardless of their financial situation, and that the school’s hardline approach exacerbates inequalities.
As the deadline approaches, the DPS administration maintains its stance, insisting that the enforcement of fee regulations is necessary for maintaining the school’s standards and operations. The parents, however, remain resolute in their fight, hoping to leverage public support and the intervention of the Department of Education (DoE) to protect their children’s right to education.
With tensions escalating, this situation is drawing increased attention from the local community, and the outcome of the parents’ impending protest may shape how such disputes between schools and families are handled in the future.
