Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has called on the central government to increase the supply of auto liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the state. This request comes as part of an initiative to promote cleaner fuels for vehicles and reduce pollution levels in urban areas.
During a recent meeting with officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Reddy highlighted the growing demand for auto LPG in Telangana, particularly in urban centers like Hyderabad. He expressed concerns that the current supply is inadequate to meet the needs of the increasing number of vehicles running on this cleaner alternative.
The minister emphasized the environmental benefits of switching to auto LPG, which produces fewer emissions compared to conventional fuels such as petrol and diesel. He argued that a significant ramp-up in supply would not only alleviate pollution but also improve the overall air quality in the region.
Reddy urged the Centre to expedite the expansion of auto LPG infrastructure, including more filling stations and better distribution networks. He pointed out that as more vehicle owners switch to auto LPG, the need for a robust supply system is becoming urgent.
In addition to promoting cleaner fuels, Reddy’s request aligns with the state government’s broader efforts to enhance sustainable practices and tackle environmental challenges. He sought a collaborative approach between the state and central governments to facilitate this transition.
The minister’s initiative is part of a larger national discourse on the need for cleaner energy sources and the importance of supporting the infrastructure that allows for a smoother transition. He remains hopeful that the Centre will respond positively to the state’s needs and take action to bolster auto LPG supply in Telangana.
