Published on April 3, 2026

No one could convince me anymore that photographs are something that only exists outwardly. This realization dawned on me after reading “The Way of Photography.” This book was the last selection for our reading club within the Street Photography Club. During our meeting, we discussed it at length and delved deep into its concepts and implications.

“The Way of Photography” challenges traditional perceptions of photography, presenting it as a medium that not only captures external realities but also reflects internal thoughts, emotions, and subconscious messages. The discussions revealed how photography can serve as a powerful tool for self-expression and exploration of the human condition.

Luis Ochandorena, a prominent figure in the realm of street photography, led the conversation, sharing insights from his own experiences and how they align with the themes laid out in the book. He emphasized the importance of understanding the unseen layers within an image and how they resonate with viewers on multiple levels.

Our discourse wandered through various dimensions of photography, from technical considerations to philosophical interpretations. It became evident that each photo tells a story, and often, these narratives are deeply intertwined with the photographer’s psyche and life experiences.

As the evening progressed, a vivid sense of community emerged among participants. Everyone contributed their views, revealing diverse perspectives shaped backgrounds and artistic journeys. This collective sharing enriched our understanding of photography, highlighting its capacity to connect individuals and evoke shared emotions.

of the meeting, it was clear that the lessons from “The Way of Photography” had sparked new ideas and aspirations within us. The realization that photography is not merely a visual endeavor but also a profound exploration of the self left an indelible mark on all participants.

As we parted ways, many expressed their excitement for future discussions, eager to explore further the intricate relationship between photography and the subconscious mind. The enthusiasm was palpable, reinforcing the belief that through the lens, we can discover not only the world around us but also the depths of our own consciousness.

Looking forward, the Street Photography Club plans to integrate these newfound insights into our upcoming projects, continuing to foster a community dedicated to the art of capturing and understanding the human experience through photography.
