Shibuya, Shinjuku y Akihabara – Japón 2024

Published on March 22, 2026

I am still struggling to process all the photographs I have left from this trip. For today’s entry, I deleted over a hundred, and now I’m down to fewer than 1,500 remaining. At this rate, I hope to finish everything by 2026. The more time my photos marinate on my computer, the more critical I am of my selections.

Japan, with its vibrant districts of Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Akihabara, continues to captivate travelers and photographers alike. Each of these iconic areas offers a unique glimpse into the diverse culture and bustling life of Tokyo.

Shibuya, known for its famous crossing, is a chaotic blend of fashion, technology, and youth culture. The vibrant atmosphere is captured in the flashing neon lights and the throng of pedestrians navigating the busy streets. While I sift through my images, I find myself reliving the energy of that iconic intersection, where hundreds of people converge at once, creating a living tapestry of movement.

Shinjuku, another beating heart of Tokyo, showcases a juxtaposition of old and new. The towering skyscrapers stand sentinel over smaller, traditional establishments, offering a fascinating contrast in ambience. My photos from Shinjuku capture the stark differences—the tranquil gardens amid the urban hustle, night scenes filled with glowing signs, and the vivid nightlife that draws visitors from around the world.

Then there’s Akihabara, a haven for tech enthusiasts and anime fans. The district is lined with stores that cater to every imaginable interest, from gaming to pop culture. My collection features a kaleidoscope of colors and themes—everything from themed cafes to the latest gadgets that highlight Japan’s technological advancements. Each photograph tells a story, a moment captured in this eclectic corner of the city.

As I grapple with the enormous backlog, I often find myself reluctant to delete any memories. Each image holds a special significance, encapsulating the essence of my experiences in these iconic neighborhoods. However, with a long way to go, the process becomes more about curating the best moments rather than preserving every single shot.

As I continue processing, I am reminded of the vibrancy of Japan’s districts and how they collectively embody a culture that is both modern and steeped in tradition. Here’s hoping that I finish organizing everything, new adventures await me in 2024 and beyond.
