The belief that AGI can be achieved through multimodal approaches—combining text, images, and sounds—could lead researchers astray. These methods might not accurately replicate the underlying mechanisms of human cognition, which are deeply rooted in bodily experiences and interactions with the world.
Moving forward, the AI community may need to reevaluate its assumptions regarding AGI development. A focus on more holistic approaches that incorporate embodied knowledge could foster a deeper understanding of intelligence beyond mere language processing.
