Sennheiser has long been a staple for audio professionals who seek quality in sound. Their lineup includes the revered HD 490 Pro, known for its open design and robust performance. The introduction of the HD 480 Pro marks a significant shift, combining the brand’s reputation with the demand for closed-back functionality.
The HD 480 Pro directly addresses common issues faced closed-back headphones, particularly regarding comfort and bass accuracy. With the integration of a “Vibration Attenuation System,” Sennheiser aims to minimize audio distortions. This new model allows for a detachable cable that can be configured for left or right-hand use, enhancing its versatility.
In terms of design, Sennheiser has incorporated features from the HD 490 Pro, focusing on the user experience during long sessions. The headphones utilize cushioned temple pads suitable for glasses wearers, maintaining consistent pressure across various head shapes. This attention to ergonomic detail reflects the company’s commitment to user comfort.
The HD 480 Pro is priced at $479 and includes a set of recording earpads, a coiled 9-foot cable, and a carrying bag. A travel case is also available for an additional $15. With this launch, Sennheiser hopes to set a new standard for closed-back headphones in both studio and live performance environments.
