Framework, known for its modular and repairable laptops, has solidified its position in the mainstream with a new offering. The company has launched the Laptop 13 Pro, a pro version of its 13-inch model, reinforcing its commitment to user feedback and repairability. This updated laptop marks a significant evolution while retaining compatibility with previous models.
The Laptop 13 Pro features a complete redesign based on user insights. It includes a larger battery, new casing, enhanced memory, a haptic trackpad, and a custom touch display. This model also introduces a sleek black finish that is seen as an upgrade to the company’s previous aesthetic, drawing favorable comparisons to iconic designs.
The revamped model addresses critical issues, particularly battery life, with an impressive 74Wh capacity. Framework claims users can expect up to 20 hours of streaming, although the battery design requires an updated chassis. The laptop also supports new Intel Panther Lake chips, promising efficiency without sacrificing performance, making it suitable for demanding tasks like gaming.
For existing Framework users, the introduction of the 13 Pro sparks questions about compatibility. While some components can be upgraded, new parts like the battery and chassis are exclusive to this model. Framework’s ethos of modularity remains intact, allowing users to adapt and enhance their devices as needs evolve, ensuring existing models remain relevant in a changing landscape.
