Poncle, the developer behind the hit Vampire Survivors, is set for a major expansion. Currently, the company is known for its popular roguelite game. However, it is now gearing up to diversify its portfolio significantly.
The announcement came through an interview with chief strategy officer Matteo Sapio. Poncle will open two new studios in Japan and Italy, launching over 15 games, including several spinoffs and original IPs. Among these is the upcoming Vampire Crawlers deckbuilder and other titles set in entirely new universes.
This ambitious plan includes roguelites based on existing IPs, like Warhammer Survivors. The company is leveraging a new engine to adapt these franchises into similar gameplay styles. Given the rising popularity of the genre, there is a promising market for Poncle’s initiatives.
However, rapid growth carries risks. Despite the current momentum, Poncle paused third-party publishing after a steep learning curve. Compared to AAA studios, Poncle’s approach involves smaller, agile teams, which could prove crucial for navigating these challenges while maintaining quality in an increasingly competitive landscape.
