DeepSeek has recently announced a staggering 75% price cut on its V4-Pro model. This adjustment comes as the AI landscape experiences rising tensions between U.S. and international companies, particularly with accusations against Chinese firms regarding the extraction of American AI technology.
In conjunction with the price reduction, DeepSeek has decreased caching costs across its API to just a tenth of previous prices. This promotional offer will last until May 5, 2026. Even before these changes, V4-Pro was already more affordable than rival models, including GPT-5.5 and Gemini 3.1 Pro.
This aggressive pricing strategy positions DeepSeek directly against major U.S. AI players, escalating the competitive dynamics in the market. Industry analysts suggest that this move reflects DeepSeek’s intent to capture a larger share amid growing concerns around technology access and innovation.
As a result, the pricing shift could prompt other AI providers to reconsider their strategies to maintain market relevance. Customers may soon benefit from increased options and lower costs, fundamentally reshaping the AI service landscape.
