Apple is set to enhance its operating systems with the forthcoming release of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. Users have long relied on the Photos app for basic editing functions such as cropping, saturation adjustments, and object removal. However, the upcoming updates promise to introduce a suite of advanced AI-driven features.
The changes center around new editing tools designed to transform images effortlessly. Users will be able to utilize options like “Extend” to expand photo backgrounds, “Enhance” for automatic image improvements, and “Reframe” to shift perspectives. These features leverage generative AI to provide a more dynamic editing experience.
If implemented, Appleās improvements will help it catch up to rivals like Google and Samsung, who have led in AI-powered editing capabilities. Currently, Google’s Magic Editor excels at allowing users to make significant alterations to their photos, a feature that Apple will aim to compete with in its upcoming tools.
In addition to photo editing, Apple plans to revamp Siri, integrating it with Google’s Gemini models. The company is expected to showcase these innovations during the WWDC keynote on June 8, setting the stage for significant shifts in user interaction across its platforms.
