Existing resources, like ASL STEM Wiki and FLEURS-ASL, boast hundreds of hours of signed video but remain only partially annotated, hindering their effectiveness in training models. This limitation has kept the progress in sign language understanding at a standstill, leaving many users without reliable tools.
To address this gap, researchers developed a novel pseudo-annotation pipeline that automates the process of generating annotations from signed video and English input. This pipeline is designed to produce a ranked set of probable annotations, covering glosses, fingerspelled words, and sign classifiers. predictions, the new approach significantly decreases the costs associated with large-scale annotation.
