Instructure Inc. has been a trusted partner for educational institutions, enabling online coursework and testing through its Canvas platform. This reliance on its infrastructure has fostered a sense of security among users throughout the academic sphere.
Recently, however, this security was compromised when hackers infiltrated Canvas, disrupting university operations. The breach resulted in significant user data theft, leaving institutions scrambling to protect sensitive information and maintain academic integrity.
In response to the breach, Instructure engaged in negotiations with the attackers. The agreement led to the return of stolen data and an assurance from the hackers not to extort Canvas’s clients, alleviating immediate fears of further disruption.
