Recently, LinkedIn has become a bustling hub for professionals seeking valuable networking opportunities. Users relied on the platform to engage meaningfully with industry insights and connect with peers. However, the influx of low-quality AI-generated content has started to obscure these interactions, making it challenging for users to find genuine value.
In response, LinkedIn is implementing measures to combat this growing problem. The company aims to identify and restrict low-quality AI posts that have become increasingly prevalent. Vice President Laura Lorenzetti emphasized that while not all AI-generated content is unworthy, substantial portions of it distract from authentic user engagement.
LinkedIn’s approach involves sophisticated tools capable of analyzing posts for originality versus generic repetition. Using an “AI solving AI” strategy, the platform intends to learn from user engagement data to filter out low-quality content over time. Human editors will assist in this effort of posts, refining the system’s ability to differentiate valuable contributions from noise.
The initiative is substantial but gradual, and it could take months before users notice significant changes in their feeds. While AI-generated comments violate LinkedIn’s terms, they continue to proliferate as some users exploit them. With an aim to restore the quality of interactions on its platform, LinkedIn hopes this effort will pave the way for a more authentic professional community.
