In a coordinated crackdown, Italian police have targeted a sophisticated audiovisual piracy network that streamed content from Sky, DAZN, Netflix, and other platforms. This operation, known as Operazione Tutto Chiaro, involved accessing and rebroadcasting legitimate subscriber accounts, affecting users across Italy, France, and Germany.
Authorities seized control of over 100 websites and identified an app that hijacked subscriber credentials. Every three minutes, the app would rebroadcast content, allowing thousands to access paid services without proper authorization.
The Guardia di Finanza, Italy’s financial police, announced the successful dismantling of the operation this past Friday. This initiative not only highlights an ongoing battle against piracy but also reveals vulnerabilities in subscription account security.
The impact of this crackdown is significant as it disrupts illegal streaming services, potentially leading to increased security measures from major streaming platforms. Consumers now face a more uncertain landscape, while law enforcement demonstrates its commitment to protecting intellectual property rights.
