Last fall, Anthropic was overshadowed , struggling with a lower valuation amid a growing AI market. Developers primarily used its flagship product, Claude Code, without remarkable results. This status quo shifted dramatically in late November with the release of Claude Opus 4.5.
The update transformed Claude Code into a powerful coding agent, capable of constructing apps from start to finish using simple user prompts. Enhanced capabilities, such as improved task management and reduced usage restrictions, allowed engineers to deploy multiple agents efficiently for software projects.
Anthropic also revamped the way users accessed Claude Code, integrating it into the Claude desktop app. This new interface streamlines workflows, allowing developers to manage code editing, collaborative sessions, and project management all in one place, encouraging broader usage within engineering teams.
The results are striking: Anthropic’s revenue surged, reaching an annual run rate of $47 billion in May 2026. Major enterprises have adopted Claude Code, solidifying its role in the industry. As Anthropic approaches its IPO, the financial viability of its groundbreaking tool will soon be scrutinized for sustainability amid rising operational costs.
