In a significant crackdown on food adulteration, the Jaipur police have dismantled a major racket involved in the production and distribution of fake paneer and adulterated ghee. The operation, which took place over the weekend, led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of large quantities of counterfeit dairy products.
Authorities received a tip-off regarding suspicious activities at a warehouse in the city’s outskirts. Upon investigation, police discovered that the culprits were manufacturing paneer using low-quality ingredients and coloring agents to imitate the appearance of genuine dairy products. Additionally, they were mixing ghee with cheaper oils, compromising its quality and safety for consumers.
Officials explained that the counterfeit paneer was being sold to local vendors and restaurants, misleading customers who believed they were buying authentic dairy products. The adulteration of ghee not only posed a health risk but also contravened food safety regulations designed to protect public health.
The raid yielded impressive results, with officials confiscating over 500 kilograms of fake paneer and several hundred liters of substandard ghee.
