Not more than 250 in LPG queue: Auto rules to keep routes running

In a move aimed at improving the efficiency of public transport and reducing congestion in Kolkata, authorities have implemented new regulations for auto-rickshaw operations. Effective immediately, the caps on the number of vehicles queuing at Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) refueling stations have been set to a maximum of 250 at any given time. This decision is part of a broader strategy to ensure that auto-rickshaws can maintain their routes without unnecessary delays, there delivery for commuters.

The regulation comes as a response to complaints from the public regarding long wait times and overcrowded queues at filling stations, which have led to disruptions in the transportation network. Officials noted that the excessive number of vehicles waiting for gas has not only created a bottleneck but has also negatively impacted the overall punctuality of the auto services.

As part of the enforcement measures, transport department personnel will monitor refill stations and the surrounding areas to ensure adherence to the newly set limit. Violators of this regulation could face penalties, including fines or restrictions on operations. The government is keen to streamline the process and encourage responsible behavior among auto-rickshaw drivers.

In addition to the queue limit, the authorities are also exploring other initiatives to further improve the situation, such as increasing the supply of LPG and enhancing the infrastructure around filling stations. Stakeholders in the auto-rickshaw sector have expressed cautious optimism about these initiatives, with many believing it will lead to better service for passengers.

While the intention behind this regulation is clear, the success of these measures will ultimately depend on compliance from drivers and the logistics of supply. For now, commuters hope these changes will soon translate into smoother, more reliable journeys across the city.
