SEOUL, March 26 (Yonhap) — LG Twins manager Youm Kyoung-youb believes his team is ready to embrace the challenges of defending their title in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) league this season. After securing the championship last year, the Twins are focused on building upon their strengths while addressing areas that require improvement.
Youm emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong team cohesion and fostering a competitive environment as the season approaches. “Every squad has its unique dynamics, and it’s crucial for us to leverage our strengths while also being aware of the competition,” he stated during a press conference held at the team’s practice facility.
The Twins have retained a core group of players who contributed significantly to their success, making continued investment in settling roles and chemistry a priority. Youm expressed confidence in the skills of his veterans and younger players alike, asserting that both groups would play vital roles in the team’s pursuit of back-to-back titles.
Focus is also being directed toward player health and fitness. Youm noted that injuries can derail any championship aspirations and that the medical staff would be closely monitoring player fitness levels throughout the season. “Staying healthy is foundational for our success. We’re working on conditioning and recovery protocols from day one to ensure we remain competitive throughout the long season,” he added.
The upcoming KBO season promises to be fiercely competitive, with several teams bolstering their rosters in the offseason. Youm acknowledged that the league’s competitiveness adds pressure, but he remains optimistic about his team’s chances. “It’s a challenge we welcome. Our goal is to enhance our skills and strategies, adapting to what each game demands,” he said.
As the Twins prepare for opening day, the focus remains firmly placed on unity, resilience, and consistent performance. With a blend of experienced talent and promising newcomers, the LG Twins are poised to make their mark once again in the KBO, aiming not just to defend their title, but to create a legacy of excellence in South Korean baseball.
