A delivery driver for Amazon has been caught on Ring doorbell footage stealing a family’s cat, an incident that has left the small community of Elland, near Halifax, West Yorkshire, in shock. Catalin Stancu, 42, was seen picking up Nora the cat shortly after making a delivery to the family’s home on January 18.
In the harrowing footage, Stancu can be seen dropping off a parcel at the front door before he approaches the cat. He is recorded lifting the unsuspecting feline and carrying her away under his arm, completely disregarding the family’s pets’ well-being. The incident was reported to local authorities , who were devastated theft of their beloved pet.
Following an investigation, police traced the driver’s vehicle using delivery records and subsequently arrested Stancu. He has since been charged with theft, and the case has drawn attention not only for its shocking nature but also for the increasing issues of pet thefts amid the pandemic.
Many community members have expressed outrage at the situation, with some voicing their fears over the safety of their pets. Local animal welfare organizations have also weighed in, urging pet owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior.
