We were three, like the Musketeers, like the Calaveras trio, like the Holy Trinity, although we had little in common with saints. Whenever I visited Madrid, I would meet with Álvaro Leiva, César Lucas Abreu, and myself. We admired each other because we understood how much we could learn from one another. Álvaro and César worked for some of the most prestigious magazines in the business, wielding their cameras and pens with remarkable skill.
César Lucas Abreu, in particular, stood out for his unique perspective on life and art. Through his lens, he captured moments that spoke volumes about human emotion and the undercurrents of society. His photographs, often laced with an edge of rock and roll, brought a gritty authenticity to the glamor of the magazine world. The synergy of our trio was palpable, as we pushed each other to think deeper, feel more intensely, and create fearlessly.
These encounters in Madrid were not just professional. They were moments imbued with friendship, laughter, and the shared pursuit of passion. Through César’s photography, I learned that every image has the potential to evoke a memory, stir an emotion, or provoke thought. We explored the concept of friendship through the lens of art, each of us interpreting it through our disciplines.
Life has a way of changing, and as our careers evolved, so did our paths. César continued to make waves in the photography world, gaining recognition for his innovative approaches and heartfelt projects. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, drawing admirers who appreciate the depth he brings to each shot.
Though we may not see each other as often as we once did, the bonds of friendship forged in those Madrid nights remain unbreakable. César, Álvaro, and I continue to inspire one another, virtually cheering each other on as we navigate our respective journeys.
In a world where connections can often feel fleeting, the enduring camaraderie fostered over shared passions—photography, music, and the spirit of rock and roll—serves as a testament to the power of genuine friendship. Our trio may have started as a casual meeting of minds, but it has blossomed into something beyond mere collaboration—a profound bond that celebrates creativity and the joy of living life unapologetically.
