Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has dismissed allegations made Pawan Khera regarding his wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, holding passports from three foreign countries. Khera claimed that Riniki possesses passports from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Antigua and Barbuda, stirring controversy in the political arena.

In response to these accusations, Chief Minister Sarma stated, “These allegations are baseless and politically motivated.” He emphasized that Khera’s assertions are a desperate attempt party to divert attention from their own shortcomings and failures. According to Sarma, the claims lack evidence and are part of a broader strategy to malign his reputation and that of his family.

The Chief Minister urged the public to remain vigilant against such false narratives, asserting that the truth will always prevail over political deceit. He reiterated that all official documents related to him and his family are transparent and accessible to the public.

Sarma’s refutation comes amid mounting political tensions in Assam, where the opposition party has been vocal in its criticism of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Khera’s comments, however, have now drawn significant backlash, with many viewing them as an attack that crosses personal boundaries.

As the situation unfolds, both parties are expected to intensify their confrontational rhetoric ahead of upcoming elections, highlighting the deeply polarized political landscape in the region. Political analysts suggest that this controversy could become a pivotal issue in the campaign, as both the BJP and Congress seek to solidify their bases and appeal to undecided voters.
