Asus has introduced the ROG NUC 16, a compact gaming mini PC that reflects the latest advancements in hardware design. Nestled in a 3-litre box, it showcases a sleek exterior while housing an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor alongside an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU. This launch marks a significant step in portable gaming solutions.
This new device comes with a hefty price tag, starting at CNY 29,999, or roughly $4,400. An alternate Moonlight White version costs CNY 31,999 (about $4,700). The specs promise exceptional performance, boasting only a 2.3% increase over its predecessor, raising questions about the value proposition.
The NUC 16 weighs in at 3.12 kilograms, a feat for a gaming rig while maintaining portability. However, the modest performance improvement has garnered mixed reactions from the gaming community. Many potential buyers are now weighing the cost against the incremental upgrades.
This combination of compact form and high pricing may redefine how gamers perceive value in high-performance machines. Asus’s bold gamble could either set a new industry standard or risk alienating its core audience. Only time will reveal if this innovation truly resonates with consumers.
