Bluesky Faces Technical Glitch Amid Ongoing Growth

Published on April 16, 2026

Bluesky, the emerging social media platform, experienced a significant disruption in its services early Wednesday morning. Users had become accustomed to a relatively stable environment, but that changed when reports of outages surfaced around 1:42 AM ET.

The platform acknowledged the issue, citing an incident with service in one of their “reginos,” as they misspelled the term ‘regions.’ Bluesky’s status page indicated that three servers were down, including one critical server in the US East region, and the outages appeared to stem from connection timeout problems.

While many users reported issues accessing feeds, others, including myself, found the platform to be functional with minor hiccups. Bluesky had already experienced a brief outage earlier this month, raising concerns about the reliability of the service despite its growing user base.

This current glitch could impact user trust and retention as Bluesky aims to compete in a crowded social media landscape. The ongoing service interruptions might lead some users to reconsider their engagement, especially if such incidents continue to arise.
