Bose Reinvigorates Smart Speakers, Targeting Sonos Users

However, the company is pivoting strategically with its new Lifestyle Ultra line, marking a departure from its past offerings. The latest generation of Bose speakers introduces a new technology platform designed after years of development. The Lifestyle Ultra series features a $299 standalone speaker, a $1,099 soundbar, and an $899 subwoofer, all built for flexibility and future compatibility. Bose’s President Raza Haider emphasized that this series represents a fundamental shift in their approach, removing outdated technology to prepare for future advancements.

Unlike previous Bose models, the Lifestyle Ultra speakers minimize their reliance on proprietary apps for music control. Users will connect via familiar third-party systems such as Apple AirPlay, Google Cast, or Spotify Connect. This simplified setup could potentially sidestep complications experienced , such as Sonos, which has faced significant backlash following app updates that eroded customer trust and resulted in operational turmoil.
