In a remarkable posthumous achievement, the late artist Christo has seen his vision come to life as the iconic Arc de Triomphe in Paris is enveloped in shimmering fabric. This monumental installation, which the artist had initially envisioned in collaboration with Jeanne-Claude in 1961, is realized over half a century later, bringing a new wave of attention to one of France’s most celebrated landmarks.
The undertaking, dubbed “L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped,” involved wrapping the 19th-century monument in 25,000 square meters of silvery blue fabric, creating a stunning visual transformation.
