The Council of Higher Institutions (COHI) and the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Lagos, in partnership with MSSN-NIJ, have successfully conducted a significant pre-Ramadan medical outreach at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism in Ogba, Lagos. The event took place on Saturday and attracted a considerable number of participants from the local community, showcasing the organizations’ commitment to public health and welfare.

The outreach aimed to provide essential medical services to attendees, including free health screenings, medical consultations, and distribution of medications. Health professionals, including doctors and nurses, volunteered their time and expertise to ensure that community members received necessary attention and guidance regarding their health concerns.

In his opening remarks, the President of MSSN-Lagos emphasized the importance of community health, particularly as many prepare for the month of Ramadan. He noted that such initiatives help to address common health issues that could hinder individuals from fully participating in the spiritual observance of fasting and prayer during the holy month.

Attendees were grateful for the opportunity to benefit from the medical services offered. Many expressed appreciation for the preventive care measures that were introduced, including advice on nutrition, hygiene, and general wellness, which are especially pertinent during Ramadan when dietary habits can change significantly.

The outreach also featured educational sessions on various health topics, including the importance of maintaining a balanced diet during fasting and the need to stay hydrated. Organizers ensured that participants received informative pamphlets detailing these topics, contributing to a greater awareness of health as they enter the Ramadan period.

Overall, the pre-Ramadan medical outreach proved to be a resounding success, demonstrating COHI’s and MSSN’s commitment to enhancing community well-being through health initiatives. Organizers have expressed hopes to continue such outreach events in the future, aiming to expand their services and reach even more people in need of medical assistance.
