Next to Christmas, Easter in our family home has always been the next best feast. It falls at a great time of year – the windows are open a crack, there’s birdsong, food, family, and friends. Sorry, I’ve come over all Martha Stewart. Whatever way you’re choosing to celebrate, I have a foolproof menu to gather around.
This year, I propose a menu that combines classic flavors with a modern twist, ensuring there’s something for everyone at the table. The starter is a vibrant spring pea soup, brightened with fresh mint and served with a dollop of crème fraîche for a creamy finish. It’s simple to prepare and sets a light and cheerful tone for the meal.
For the main course, roast leg of lamb is a traditional choice that many families gravitate towards, and for good reason. Marinating the leg overnight with garlic, rosemary, and a hint of lemon zest infuses it with flavor, creating a succulent centerpiece that pairs beautifully with seasonal vegetables. Serve it alongside honey-glazed carrots and buttery new potatoes for the perfect complement.
No Easter feast is complete without dessert, and this year, I recommend an elegant lemon tart. The tart’s buttery crust and tangy filling create a refreshing end to the meal. Topped with a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a handful of fresh berries, it not only tastes good but also looks stunning on the table.
As you gather around with your loved ones, set the mood with a simple yet stylish table setting. Fresh flowers, soft linens, and your favorite dishes create an inviting atmosphere that encourages everyone to linger longer.
Easter is a time for connection, laughter, and creating unforgettable memories. With this foolproof menu, you can focus on enjoying the occasion and each other’s company, knowing that the food will be a delicious highlight of the day. So roll up your sleeves, put on your apron, and let’s get cooking!
