Ericsson, a leader in telecom equipment, has announced a major relocation of its global headquarters from Kista to Hagastaden, a vibrant part of central Stockholm. This marks a significant shift for a company that has been rooted in Kista for over 20 years, an area once celebrated as Sweden’s Silicon Valley.
The decision comes as Ericsson signs a colossal lease for a 71,000-square-meter campus with Atrium Ljungberg and Castellum, which will take effect in 2028. This move is part of a broader strategy to consolidate their operations and remain competitive within the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
The relocation will impact the local economy of Kista, which has thrived on Ericsson’s presence. As the company transitions, local businesses and vendors that relied on the tech giant may face challenges, leading to potential job losses in the area.
