You have until 12 noon on Friday, March 20, to submit your entries for the New England Art Club Annual Exhibition. While dedicated artists may have already submitted their work, there is still time for others to contribute pieces they are proud of.
Historically, the New English Art Club was established by a group of artists who were dissatisfied with the rigid conventions of the Royal Academy. Today, its mission is articulated , Patrick Cullen, who emphasizes the importance of creating meaningful and resonant art. “At the heart of the NEAC is the search and propagation of meaningful, resonant art. It is committed to authenticity through the observation of life, as well as the task of articulating and communicating ideas with the beauty of skillful language,” Cullen stated.
Entries from open artists are welcomed, reinforcing the NEAC Annual Exhibition’s role as a platform for both members and aspiring artists. With a legacy spanning over a century, this event presents an opportunity for new works to be displayed alongside those of esteemed artists.
For more detailed submission guidelines and to enter, artists can visit the official call for entries at the New English Art Club’s website and access the entry portal for the exhibition. It’s important to note that the official entry page includes terms and conditions that must be copied and saved, as it does not offer a downloadable PDF.
The NEAC prides itself on showcasing vibrant and diverse art. Last year, the exhibition featured 389 artworks, many of significant size, creating a visually rich and dynamic gallery space.
In terms of sales and pricing, past exhibitions reveal interesting trends. Approximately 60% of artworks sold were oil paintings, with just over 20% consisting of landscapes or cityscapes. Notably, 17 of the 50 sales came from open artists, with a majority being female. Those interested in selling should consider the pricing guidelines, as works priced between £500 and £1,000 have historically performed better, with sales significantly dropping above £1,500.
With such a rich tradition and commitment to innovative art, the New England Art Club’s Annual Exhibition remains a significant event for both established and emerging artists alike. Artists are encouraged to submit their work for this year’s showcase before the final deadline.
