Games Done Quick Sets European Milestone at Gamescom

Games Done Quick (GDQ) has traditionally entertained audiences in the U.S. through charity speedrunning events. Since its inception in 2010, the organization has effectively raised over $60 million for various causes. This summer, however, the familiar routine is set for a significant shift.

The charity is expanding its horizons, hosting its inaugural live event in Europe during Gamescom, scheduled for August 28-30 in Cologne, Germany. The marathon will feature well-known speedrunners, an audience on-site, and will stream live on both Twitch and YouTube. Daily programming will commence at 4 AM ET, culminating at 2 PM.

Ashley Farkas, GDQ’s Owner and Business Director, expressed enthusiasm about this development, highlighting the significance of reaching out to the European gaming community. This partnership aims not only to support charity but also to open doors for runners who have faced travel limitations to the U.S.

The event’s launch marks a pivotal moment for GDQ, as it allows for greater global participation and brings awareness to charitable initiatives across borders. With its January event recently completed, featuring popular games, GDQ is poised to foster connections and amplify its charitable mission through this European debut.
