After an intense and spectacular online gala that successfully trended on Twitter in Spain, the 2016 Blogos de Oro awards were unveiled. The event kicked off with a delightful presentation Santiago Segura, who dedicated a drawing to the gala.
The lively ceremony left little room for relaxation, as participants struggled to keep up with hashtags, notifications, and posts, with many lamenting the lack of fingers and screens. Colleagues from @FAFotograma provided exceptional live coverage through their YouTube channel, offering commentary and even receiving direct calls from presenters such as Mónica Aragón and Enrique Laso. The entire program can be viewed HERE.
So, without further ado, here are the final results of the 2016 Blogos de Oro winners:
BEST MOVIE
– Mad Max: Fury Road
BEST DIRECTOR
– George Miller for Mad Max: Fury Road
BEST ACTOR
– Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant
This award was presented by Aura Garrido, who built some suspense due to her phone battery dying just as she was about to announce the nominees and winner. At the end of the gala, she sincerely apologized, and everyone assured her that it was no trouble, appreciating her dedication to the Blogos de Oro. It became a memorable anecdote.
BEST ACTRESS
– Inma Cuesta for The Bride
The gala was hosted by Mónica Aragón, who also utilized her phone to navigate her entrance to the Blogos de Oro. While doing so, she hilariously tripped on the stairs, likening the moment to Jennifer Lawrence’s famous fall.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
– Tom Hardy for The Revenant
Notably, Tom Hardy won over Sylvester Stallone a single vote.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
– Jennifer Jason Leigh for The Hateful Eight
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE
– Ennio Morricone for The Hateful Eight
BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
– Mad Max: Fury Road
BEST SCREENPLAY
– Inside Out
BEST ANIMATED FILM
– Inside Out
WORST MOVIE
– Jupiter Ascending
BEST SPANISH FILM
– Truman
BEST SHORT FILM
– Novatos
It’s worth mentioning that the Blogos de Oro provides a real award for the Best Short Film, promoting the release or re-release of the winning film in cinemas.
BEST SHORT FILM
– What We Leave Behind
Thank you to all who followed the gala live, to those who read my posts on the blog (I still can’t explain it), and to anyone who accidentally stumbles upon this page and honors me with their visit.
