Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, addressed reporters on Tuesday, marking their first press conference in nearly two weeks amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The briefing comes at a time of escalating tensions and calls for clarity regarding U.S. military involvement in the region.
During the conference, Hegseth provided an overview of the current situation, highlighting the U.S. commitment to supporting its allies while also ensuring that American forces remain focused on their primary mission. “We are deeply concerned about the ongoing violence and strive to foster peace and stability in the region,” he stated. Hegseth emphasized the importance of coalition efforts and reiterated the U.S. stance against groups that threaten regional security.
General Caine detailed the military strategies being employed to counteract threats and stabilize impacted areas. He confirmed that U.S. forces continue to conduct operations aimed at deterring aggressors and protecting civilian populations. “Our focus is on intelligence-sharing with allies and leveraging our capabilities to respond effectively to any aggression,” he said.

The two leaders maintained that while all options remain on the table, there is currently no plan to escalate military presence beyond existing commitments. As the situation in the Middle East continues to develop, both defense officials expressed hope for a diplomatic resolution while remaining prepared for any unforeseen military challenges. “We are committed to our allies and prepared to act when necessary,” General Caine concluded, as he and Hegseth exited the briefing amid ongoing concerns about the war’s impact on regional and global stability.
