More working parents in the UK could find themselves eligible for up to 30 hours of free childcare per week, which can lead to significant savings of up to £7,500 annually. This financial support can ease the burden on families, allowing them to balance work and childcare more effectively while alleviating some financial stress.
To take advantage of this scheme, parents must first determine their eligibility. The 30 hours of free childcare initiative is primarily designed for working parents or guardians of children aged three to four years old. Both parents (or a sole parent in a single-parent family) must be working, and each must earn a minimum amount, typically around £152 per week, while not exceeding a certain income threshold. Parents are also required to be living in England and may need to provide evidence of their circumstances during the application process.
