Humanoid Robot Completes First Successful Shift at Siemens Factory

Published on April 20, 2026

At Siemens’ Erlangen plant, the factory floor followed a traditional routine of human labor, where workers handled logistics and inventory with efficiency. This environment, marked and repetitive tasks, set the stage for innovation.

The introduction of the HMND 01 Alpha, an AI-powered wheeled humanoid robot, marked a significant shift. Developed , Nvidia, and the UK startup Humanoid, this robot was tasked with managing tote-handling operations autonomously.

During an eight-hour shift, the robot achieved over 60 tote moves per hour with an impressive pick-and-place success rate exceeding 90%. Its successful operation was not only a technological milestone but also a critical test of integrating advanced robotics into a live production environment.

This trial signifies a potential transformation in manufacturing processes. on human labor for repetitive tasks, Siemens might see increased productivity and safety on the factory floor, paving the way for further automation in the industry.
