Five years ago, Kathryn Thomas admits she would have never revealed the fact that she had received Botox. In her conversation, Thomas voices her observations about the increasing openness of her colleagues in the entertainment industry regarding cosmetic procedures. “I was kind of saying, isn’t it interesting how I now go online and see all my television colleagues, friends, all actively saying that they have Botox,” she notes. “It just became that everyone was like, there’s nothing to hide, why are we embarrassed to talk about it? It was everywhere.”
As she reflects on the changing landscape, Thomas describes her initial hesitations about discussing such topics publicly. Gradually, she became more comfortable sharing her experiences online. “I was putting Instagram stories up, and saying what do I do,” she recalls.
For Thomas, the pursuit of youth isn’t just about aesthetics; it reflects deeper desires for vitality and connection. “I thought I was going to feel a million dollars. I thought I was going to be hopping into the bed with my husband,” she explained, illustrating a personal narrative that resonates with many who seek rejuvenation through various means.
Through her documentary, Thomas delves into the cultural implications of aging, exploring what it means to pursue youth in a society increasingly preoccupied with appearance. The film features interviews with experts and discussions on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), Botox, and other anti-aging strategies, posing the question: can we truly escape the inevitability of aging?
