Indonesia’s National Zakat Agency (Baznas) has established seven emergency classroom tents in Beit Lahia, located in North Gaza, as part of its efforts to support education amidst ongoing conflict and humanitarian challenges in the region. This initiative aims to provide displaced and affected children with immediate access to learning opportunities during a time of crisis.
The classrooms, constructed with durable materials, are designed to accommodate students temporarily, allowing them to continue their education while remaining close to their communities. Baznas has emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental right and a vital aspect of recovery in the aftermath of conflict.
Local officials welcomed the establishment of these emergency classrooms, highlighting the urgent need for educational resources in the area. Many children in Gaza have faced significant disruptions to their schooling due to violence and instability, which has resulted in widespread trauma and loss of learning time.
In addition to providing classroom space, Baznas plans to equip these tents with educational materials, including books, writing supplies, and other resources necessary for effective learning. The agency is also working closely with local educators to ensure the curriculum offered is relevant and sensitive to the current circumstances faced .
The initiative reflects Indonesia’s commitment to humanitarian aid and support for the Palestinian people, as Baznas continues to coordinate with various stakeholders, including international organizations and local communities, to address the pressing needs in Gaza.
As the conflict continues to impact daily life in the region, initiatives like those implemented critical in providing hope and educational continuity for the younger generation, laying the groundwork for a more stable and promising future.
