Israel has announced its intention to maintain control over a portion of southern Lebanon even after the conclusion of the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah. Defence Minister Israel Katz made the declaration during a recent press conference, emphasizing the need for security measures that would enhance Israel’s defensive posture along its northern border.
Katz articulated that the proposed territorial control is essential for safeguarding Israeli citizens from potential threats posed , which has been heavily involved in the conflict. He described the group as a significant danger, insisting that any future peace agreement must prioritize Israel’s national security interests.
In addition to the territorial assertions, Katz revealed plans to demolish houses in Lebanese villages situated near the Israeli border. The Defence Minister asserted that homes identified as posing a security risk would be targeted, stressing that the actions taken would be based on comprehensive intelligence assessments.
