The Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia (Kemenag) has condemned the alleged abuse of a student at a Quranic study center (TPQ) in Probolinggo that has gone viral on social media. The incident, which reportedly involved physical violence against the young learner, has sparked widespread outrage and concern among parents and community members.
In a statement released on social media, Kemenag emphasized the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for all students, particularly those at educational institutions like TPQs. The ministry expressed its disapproval of any form of violence in educational settings and called for immediate action to address the issue.
“The safety and well-being of our children should always be our top priority. We cannot tolerate any form of maltreatment or violence against students,” the statement read. Kemenag urged local authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and take appropriate measures against those found responsible.
The case reportedly came to light after a video showing the alleged abuse circulated online, drawing the attention of the public and activist groups.
