Mansukh Mandaviya, India’s Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, has called for the inclusion of kho kho in the upcoming Asian Games and the 2036 Olympics. His remarks come in the wake of India’s success in hosting the Kho Kho World Cup, which he believes has showcased the sport’s potential and the talent of its players.
“We did a splendid job of organising the Kho Kho World Cup and we need to make an effort that these players get a chance to play at the Asian Games,” Mandaviya stated during a recent event. He emphasized the importance of promoting indigenous sports like kho kho, highlighting how such initiatives can bolster national pride and unity.
Kho kho, a traditional Indian tag sport, has been part of the cultural fabric of the country for centuries.
