The introduction of WhatsApp Plus brings several cosmetic upgrades to the existing platform. Subscribers can enjoy premium stickers with special effects, enhanced theme and icon customization, and the ability to pin up to 20 chats. Pricing details remain unclear, but estimates suggest costs ranging from less than $1 to approximately $3 per month.
This paid tier exists alongside the free version, which continues to offer basic messaging, voice calls, and end-to-end encryption without charge. Meta is also exploring additional features for WhatsApp Plus, inspired of an Instagram Plus service that teased exclusive enhancements. The testing phase indicates a broader shift towards monetizing previously free features across Meta’s platforms.
