The Neo Geo Advanced Entertainment System has a storied legacy, known for its premium gaming experience in the ’90s. Many fans longed for the hardware but were deterred price tag. Now, SNK and Plaion Replai are reintroducing this nostalgic console to a new generation with an updated model.
The newly announced Neo Geo AES+ features HDMI compatibility, allowing users to enjoy high-definition visuals up to 1080p. In addition, it boasts modern upgrades, including DIP switches for display options and memory card support for saving high scores. While the console embraces contemporary technology, it retains original AV output, ensuring compatibility with classic CRT televisions.
Preorders have opened for two variations of the Neo Geo AES+: a standard black edition and a special all-white 35th anniversary bundle. The latter includes an arcade stick and a limited Metal Slug cartridge, priced at $349.99. Each unit also comes with ten reimagined game cartridges, expected to appeal to both nostalgic players and newcomers alike.
This revival comes as the original console’s market value remains historically high, with its launch price around $649.99. The Neo Geo AES+ will start shipping on November 12, presenting an attractive option for retro gamers eager to relive cherished memories without breaking the bank.
