Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has raised alarms regarding the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) bowling attack ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. In a recent interview, de Villiers expressed his concern over star bowler Trent Boult, suggesting that the New Zealand international may not possess the same pace and effectiveness that once made him a formidable force in T20 cricket.
De Villiers highlighted that with the increasing intensity and competitiveness of the IPL, any decline in a bowler’s performance could be exploited . He noted that while MI boasts a robust squad overall, Boult’s potential dip in form could represent a significant vulnerability for the team.
